Medusa is the mortal sister of the Gorgons Euryale and Stheno, beautiful and with golden wings. She is the guardian of female mysteries and a goddess / queen of matriarchies
She only shows her terrible snake-haired head to unauthorized people, that she captivates, turns into stone and kills (men were excluded from women’s mysteries and their rituals). Only with the „tricky“ decapitation of Medusa was the patriarchy able to establish itself effectively and even today women’s power is „outwitted“.
